quote:I feel fat after watching football with you for 10 hours yesterday. Wing Dings, chicken parm, etc............burp............. I was watching the Discovery Channel the other night and wouldn't know, if they didn't have a show on there bout how Yankees put on weight for their winter hibernation. So I was thinking I just may have to make a trip up North sometime and observe ya'all Yankees in your natural habitat. Cause I never seen that before, as us Southern boys down here don't hibernate in the winter, cause were to busy fish'n. And Doug, you leave those engines right there in the cockpit, plant a few flowers around them and they'll look just fine! My cousin Earl, actually he is my second cousin, twice removed on my daddy's side, well he has those same engines in his front yard, and they look real nice with the flowers his mrs's planted in them. Ed... It isn't just the engines in the front yard.. You know you are a redneck when your wife yells out from the bathroom (the inside one).. "Honey, can you take the transmission out of the tub.. I need to give Junior a bath!". Frank B - IRGuy@aol.com "Phoenix" 1983 FBC Wilmington, NC

Does anyone know what the outside diameter is of our shaft logs? Tim, Do you know what model number PSS dripless shaft seal you used? Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA

Doug, have you looked at this? http://www.e-marine-inc.com/products/gf ... cking.html It could save you money and do the same thing without the risk of it failing. Remember that boat that sank on the way to the Miami Boat show?

Ed, I was using the GFO and it worked very well. I think one of my shaft logs is a little egged out as I would have to tighten it occasionally. Since everything is out, I think nows the time to go with the PSS. They offer a good product. They're in a lot of boats without issue. I know many builders are using them, however, aren't they dependent on water flow to cool them? Just seems like something else that could fail right when you wouldn't want it too.

There are 2 kinds. One that uses injected water to cool the shaft (this is for boats that travel faster than 12 knots) and one that does not use water (for boats that travel at 12 knots or slower). It wouldn't matter if you had 1000hp MAN's, I heard that you don't cruise like very much over 10kts, as the brass pole begins to sway over that.
