NE Winter Storage

Post by Rick »

Hate to bring up such a dark topic, but I'm shopping around a bit for winter storage here on the North Shore of Mass. The place I normally stay wants $42/FT....already found a suitable alternative for $36. Anyone got any better deals that is worth taking a look at ? Thanks, Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

I'm not even going to tell you what we're paying at the club. Unfortunately there's a waiting list to become a member (currently at 15 or so) and then there's at least a 10 year wait to get into the yard. What about Liberty Marina? I know a bunch of PCYC members head over there. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA

Doug, From what I heard (and don't know for sure), Liberty sold out to a condo developer....no more marina next year. They're worth a call but it doesn't sound good. What about Portside....heard anything good or bad about them ? Thanks, Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

Riverview was the one. Who told you it was sold? What about Pope's landing? Your boat may be to big for them to hall but you never know. The guy that owns that place (Tom Cargill) bought my old 28 from me. Regards, Doug L. 1986 33 Bertram FBC Queen Elizabeth Marblehead, MA

The lady at Liberty told me it was sold. I've talked to Tom before and with my Radar tower I'm too tall for him to store. He's got a power line running over his ramp. So I guess that's it. I'll go check out Portside & Liberty and decide between them, it's getting to the point where I should just leave it on the cape. Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

No sweat Tim, but thanks. It's just one of those terms we never hear until we tune into a Red Sox game. Speaking of which.....I think MLB is making a killing off of our rivalry with the Bronx bombers. Seems like we play them every two weeks this year. Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

Rick, Before you commit to one, check on the yards policy on what you are allowed to do yourself. Liberty won't allow your own shrinkwrapping or bringing in a pressure washer. I've heard the guy there can be great or if you sneeze the wrong way he'll tell you to get your boat out of his yard. So if you go to Liberty, DON'T PISS THE MAN OFF. Al 1978 33 FBC NITES OFF

Thanks Al, Yeah, I've shaved it down to Danvers or Portside. I've got a few questions for both of them and need to decide soon. Rick Ticket 85 SF Falmouth, MA

Boatworks in Newburyport is 28 dollars a foot, I heard. It's on Merrimack St. I would save 400 bucks if I went there, but I figured the cost for fuel would even it out with Liberty. I like the pavement at Liberty, compared to the gravel at Boatworks. Bill Dunlop "Rebecca Rose" 1988 FBC Ipswich, Massachusetts
