Getting Ready

Post by kohna »

My baby is about ready for her journey to home. The work is coming along and I will be flying to Ft. Lauderdale Wednesday to prep for the trip on Friday or Saturday to Texas. Below are a few pictures of some repairs. Bottom After hauled out. [:0] Bottom after a lot of work. Good luck. BTW, Don't ever let anyone block your boat that way again. That's a nightmare in waiting. Blocks should never be stacked like that. They should be cribbed (aka crisscrossed). It takes more blocks, but its much safer.

Mine didn't fall over in the explosion and it was blocked that same way(just not as high), along with 100 other boats. I'm sure Kiln Time is up that high to work on the bottom, and note the extra jackstands all the way around?

I would not want my boat blocked like that. Block it right and you wouldn't need all the extra jackstands.

Now Now Doug, I'm sure it was jacked way up to do the bottom work and it just looks more precarious in the pictures. When you open "Doug's Marina and Tittie Bar" you can insist how the boats get blocked all you want.

Doug... Re: Frank P's comment above... I will be happy to invest in part of your upcoming business venture! But I don't know anything about running a marina!

Nothing wrong with the way the boat is blocked. The only thing I would have added was a couple of chains between two of the stands just so they don't kick out. Gravity hold the boat to the blocks and the jackstands only keep it from tiling over. It would sit just fine with only two stands under the stern. All those other stands are just back-ups. Keep the stern two from spreading and she is not going to move.

Sorry to disagree, but that is not the preferred method.

Do you have some documentation on the preferred method?

Now thats how you block a boat, New Jersey style! No thats not a cinder block on the bottom.
