The guy on my dock has Cummins 370's in his '77, good fit and the boat flies. I think he cruises around 23 knots. Captain Rick Ticket 85 SF Merc 454 MPI's Falmouth, MA

I have 330 qsb’s. No difference in actual engine size between the 330’s and 380’s. Cummins gets the extra hp from turning higher rpms between the two models. If you look at the power curves you can turn a slightly larger wheel with the 330’s and will get slightly better economy. Now if you want to go fast, go for it. Loaded for bear I’ll cruise 20-21 at 2350-2400 rpms.
I currently have cat 3116s 350HP turning 4 blades and can cruise @ 23Knots at 2300rpm Just thinking of a future repower. My boat has a clean fresh bottom (Blasted, barrier coated, Pettit Black Widow) and the struts are faired in.
Sounds nice. Now as far as engine size the 480 hp qsb’s are only a touch wider than the 380’s due to a larger aftercooler. May be worth consideration. I have a buddy with a strike 33 with the 480’s and they haul.
