windless

On my 1983 bertram 33sf I found a capped off two wire dc power line in the rope locker in the bow. Are these lines for a windless? I plan on installing a windless this winter and it would be nice if I didn't have to run a line for it. Does anybody know if these wires were intended for a windless, an...

side exhaust

While under way one of my side exhaust leaks exhaust fumes. It appears to be leaking where it goes through the hull. I've been told it's a common problem on the bertrams with side exhaust. I've also been told I can have the fiberglass exhaust pipe glassed to the hull side. Is this the correct way to...

A nice set of cats in a 33 sf would be sweet, but I can't help noticing the new breed of big block gas motors out there. The new crusader 8.1 (496 cubic inch) produce 385hp or 425hp depending on which model, and burn 25% less than my 454 crusaders. They also have any excellent (proven) fuel injectio...

I'v read the LWL for both FBC and SF is 31' and the LOA is 32 feet 11 3/4 inches. No differentiation between gas or diesel power was made on LWL. - Rob

fire suppression system

Where can I mount fire suppression system in my engine compartment? On my forward bulkhead is a battery charger and on the rear bulkhead are the battery switches. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks -Rob

Doug, The starboard engine was new out of the box in 96. The port had a new long block, risers, elbows, heat exchanger, fuel pump and carb in 2001. at 4200rpm my gps shows about 32 mph or about 28knts. If you run these boats at high rpm they seem to go burn up motors at least the gas boats anyway. Th...

My crusaders have 238 hrs on them and they will turn 4200rpm WOT. Thats with a full tank of fuel three people on board and no canvas. my generator is also not installed. I'm wondering how the 6.5kw onan will effect the numbers? The props are the original 21x20 three blade.-Rob
