Thanks Bill, I'm going to mic the O.D. of the tubing. Second water heater in 30 years; FIDELITY is also an '88 FBC w/454s.

Now I need some of the other fittings for FIDELITY ; doesn't someone know who made them or where I can buy them? Here's a question: does anyone have any of the grey compression fittings that were used around '88

Fidelity is an '88 FBC with the original fresh water plumbing; the check valve is sticking and I hope not to re-do the whole thing. I thought that I'd read years ago that someone identified the manufacturer of the stuff but couldn't turn it up in search. Jim Hart FIDELITY (faithful)
