Its official sports fans. The tank is shot. They removed the cockpit deck to inspect the tank and he said the fiberglass is soft and mushy. They filed on the insurance report "Cause of failure: Deterioration due to ethanol corrosion“. Looks like a new tank for me. [:(]

Thanks Joe. I have a question for you knowledgeable boatman. I had my fuel removed from the boat using Yachting Bliss in Pompano Beach/Ft. Lauderdale area as my agent since my project manager was out of town. I have requested many times they give me the name of the company that removed the fuel and ...

I got a report on the tank pressure test today and it failed. I am having the boat moved to a home with a dock that is much cheaper then the marina and they will allow work to be done there. They capped all the lines, new gaskets on the sending unit and pumped it up to 4 PSI and soap tested them and...

I am having the tank pressure tested tomorrow. My project manager doesn't believe the tank failed. I will try to post some pics of the inside of the tank taken by Yachting Bliss that wants to install a tank if I figure out how to do it on the forum.

Buy2ls, That was my thinking as well. I have heard from a Yacht service company that insurance has paid off on a failed tank on a Bertram that they replaced a tank on. Have any of you heard of this?

Fuel Tank Replacement

It appears at this time I may need to replace my 315 gallon fiberglass gasoline tank on my 33 FBC. Would you guys recommend inserting an aluminum tank inside the shell of the old tank, a bladder or removing the old tank and using a new aluminum tank to keep the capacity up. If you have done this bef...

I actually had my project manager look into trucking the boat. He felt figuring the trucking costs along with tear down and reassembly it would be cheaper to run her on its bottom. I'm sure he didn't factor in underway breakdown costs that could occur. I will again look into the trucking route and u...
