Thank you, Frank. Yes, I did that, and, with the switch off, I have continuity through the bulb when it's in place. However, this could mean that there's a short between hot and ground somewhere but, if that's the case, I don't think I'd be getting 12 vDC to the bulb fixture and the wires should hea...

Navigation light

Hello, all. The starboard nav light on our Sportfisherman isn't working. When I take the bulb out and check the wiring for voltage, the meter reads 12.3 vDC. The bulb is new and checks out OK for continuity. When I put the bulb back in, it doesn't burn and now I'm not reading any voltage on that cir...

Soaked Salon

Good morning, everyone. We took HOT ROD BLUE (1989 33' Sportfisherman) out yesterday to look for some early season yellowfin. NOAA was totally wrong with their forcast (again), and we ended up in stacked up four to six foot seas. Coming back to the docks we had a beam sea on the starboard bow which ...

Trim tabs

Hello, everyone. We have a 33' Sportfisherman, "HOT ROD BLUE", and we're trying to get her ready for the spring fishing season. We had one of the trim tab hoses come loose at the tab, and we want to get it fixed, of course. I noticed that the tabs on our boat are only 12" x 8". T...

Shore Power Connection

Hello, everyone. I hope all had a safe and happy holiday season. We have a 1989 33' Bertram Sportfisherman ("HOT ROD BLUE") that was attacked by an otter last week. The little devil damaged the enclosure that houses the boat's shore power connection. That is, it damaged the fiberglass (or ...

Tuna door

We're considering putting a tuna door on the transom of our 33 SF. Has anyone done this, or can anyone give us any information on the process? We need something to do for the winter. Capt. Jim Bost

On our boat, the hook is on the engine cover and the ring for the hook is on the bulkhead. I attached the zip tie to the ring for the engine cover hook. The zip tie falls against the bulkhead when we put the engine cover down. Jim

Does anyone know what the water line length is for the 1989 33' Sportfisherman with Cat 3208s? Jim Bost

Good morning. Your life ring is in about the only place it can go. To avoid having to take it down each time we open the port engine hatch, I attached a zip tie ( kind with a screw mounting hole molded on it) to the metal ring on the bulkhead. The hook fits snugly in the screw mounting hole, and the...
