427 to 454 Engine Swap
Our 1972 35’ SF has the original 4 bolt main 427 blocks. These engines are worth $$ around here and I’m interested in swapping for 454’s. Does anyone have experience for such a swap? I know lots have been done. I’m particularly interested in what components can be reused, heads, manifolds, carb, dis...

Deck Caulking
We are re-painting our aft deck, a drop in one-piece. The caulking around the outer edge looks bad. Should I attempt to get the old out and recaulk or just clean and paint over? Using Interlux Perfection with no slip added. The boat is a 1969 35’ in fresh water, Detroit MI.

The material I use is 3/62" thick. This is HDPL, "High Density Plastic Laminate". Use this link, put your own zip code in the form and see your local suppliers. https://www.wilsonart.com/home-owners?location=48236

I went to the WilsonArt website, found their dealer in Detroit, ordered a sheet and it was here in a week. Let me know if I can help. Here is their website: https://www.wilsonart.com/laminate/wils ... gL-rfD_BwE

Awlgrip Wilsonart?
I've installed new cockpit panels using Wilsonart over tempered hardboard but the color is off. Do you think I can Awlgrip over the panels? Start with primer or go directly with topcoat?

Refinish aft deck ????
My 72 Bertram needs a new finish on her aft deck. Ten + years ago it was finished with Awlgrip, very tired now. Does anyone have experience with non Awlgrip finishes on decks? Lots of traffic there. The hull still looks great but all horizontal surfaces are tired. This is a Great Lakes boat.

Oil Cooler Removal
Does anyone have any suggestions? I suspect a leak in one of the oil coolers mounted to the bell housing of our Mercruiser 325 (427 block) in our 1972 35'. I'm afraid I will have to pull the engine to get at them. I hope there is an easier way but I don't see it.

OK, I did it. At the bottom of the door there is a screw on each side that holds the lower lateral frame. Take screws on each side out and then with a hammer and block of wood tap the lower and it will slide off the bottom of the door. Once you are at this point you can pry the roller up and away fr...
