Yes, there is no backer. I might be going to the boat on Sunday& will check the thickness.

Re: Replace/refurbish flybridge doors
Mike, they are just a simple rectangle hinged on the outboard side so they swing open against the side of the bridge. They have a simple surface mounted slide latch to keep them closed. There is a piece of poly carbonate screwed in above to direct water away at the top. I probably won't be back to t...

Re: Replace/refurbish flybridge doors
Hi Mike, don't you have the dark plexiglass doors? Anything wrong with them or do you just want something else?

P.S. Did you ever get your windlass installed?

Re: Breaking the ice
Hi Tony, my 1st choice would be the impellor. Think about it. Out then in again 13 gal. per engine. The pumping back in is with cold oil. Second choice would be an air look on the normal output side. Good luck Al P.S If a line from one of the engines is easily accessible pull that off & see if y...

Re: Leak
Doug, don't remember what the cabin looks like. Do you have a vinyl liner on the hull side. Could it be leaking in a cleat, hull joint, etc. and then running down behind the vinyl? Can you sprinkle talc powder & see if then you pick up a trail. Just suggestions. Good luck Al P.S. I'm glad somebo...

Re: Maxwell windlass
On my 1978 FBC the piece I cut out for the windlass was about 31mm thick. Instead of a vertical windlass have you considered going to a horizontal type windlass? Everything sits above deck. You might have to get longer studs. To cover the existing holes you could use a piece of starboard as a pad. G...

Re: Windlass Install with Pulpit
Mike, if it's that close, I wouldn't worry about it. The anchor well on our boats is so deep it shouldn't be a problem. Unless you intend to put over 600' of rode in there.

Re: Windlass Install with Pulpit
Mike, general rule of thumb is to mount it over the deepest part of the anchor well. I don't have a pulpit so I had no problem doing that. Don't really remember the details as it was over 20 years ago. I did reinforce under the deck with 3/4" plywood epoxied in place. Also used a 1/4" alum...

Re: Battery Charger
Mike, my old battery box was rotted so I built a new one. I have 3 batteries with long measurement running athwart ship & I have one beside them running fore n aft. They are Grp 31 Duracell batteries. At my age they are much easier to handle than the old Grp 4d's I had in there. They also last l...

Re: Battery Charger
Mike I put this one in years ago. No problems & since I live on board all summer, it gets used a lot. I have two battery banks. Each bank consists of two Grp 31 105 amp AGM batteries.

Re: Greetings
Tony, the die grinder with a double cut carbide burr is very controllable. I use a cone shape burr. With the tension off the bolts, sometimes you can just use vise grips to work the stud out. Actually I'm remembering I ground off the nuts on the back side of the coupling. I think I then used a 25&qu...
