Where have you been the last 15 years? I am 95% positive that you have a Hynautic H50 helm. I believe Hynautic was taken over by Seastar. Many places will rebuild the H50 or you can buy a kit & do it yourself. Just be careful you don't drop the ball bearings everywhere.

If it was me, I would start with a clean bottom. If the boat has been out of the water all winter then the hull has probably dropped 500 lbs. in water weight. Those two might give you back your RPMs. Are your props dinged? Your props might just need to be reconditioned.

Doug, don't remember what the cabin looks like. Do you have a vinyl liner on the hull side. Could it be leaking in a cleat, hull joint, etc. and then running down behind the vinyl? Mike, if it's that close, I wouldn't worry about it. The anchor well on our boats is so deep it shouldn't be a problem. Unless you intend to put over 600' of rode in there.
