Tony, We passed papers last Thursday morning on Nites Off. Thursday afternoon got a video from the new owner under weigh at speed. That was strange watching my boat of 24 years with someone else at the helm.

Re: It’s Time
Tony, good luck in future endeavors. Are you staying in boating? In about an hour, I am meeting at the lawyers to finalize the sale of Nites Off & the slip I have owned since 1989. It is a strange feeling!

Re: 33sf Split air conditioning system
Cliff, IF you can get this to fit, it is an superb unit. https://www.ctm-marine.com/marine-air-conditioners/ct-16 . On my FBC, the unit was about an inch to long. Then I was going to go with the Webasto platinum unit. Ended up taking the evaporator unit apart & fixing the blower. Last season a f...

Re: Shore Power
That is the one. They are expensive. Is it always shore 1 or 2? Have you pulled the inlet out to make sure you don't have a broken wire in back? All I can suggest is you use a single 30 amp cord & then meter every step to see where you are losing power. The other day I lost the stb motor. Then l...

Re: Shore Power
I looked at the circuitry about 20 years ago. If I remember correctly that buss fuse is after the AC power is distributed. I don't have the switch you are talking about. I think both Rick & Doug had to replace a rotary switch in the electrical panel. Is the orange polarity light going on at all....

Re: Shore Power
Tony, you have me confused. Are you talking about the shore power inlets? Are you using a 50A > 2 x 30A connector's. Have you pulled the receptacle out & metered the leads there. Have you tried another straight 30 amp cord? The 60 A buss fuse is a long way down the circuitry path.

It's that time.
I am no longer getting old. I am old. Since I do everything myself health issues can make things very difficult. In the last three years I have fractured my hip twice, have had back & knee problems & am now dealing with a torn rotator cuff which I can't get repaired due to other issues. So I...

Re: Genny Seacock
Tony, I think you will have to haul out. If you break something then you probably won't even be able to put a foam plug in. Is it an old gate valve? I would be very afraid to play with it. I would look at online seacock fotos to identify what you have. Did you pull the hose off & try squirting C...

Re: Advice
Jose, you can try http://www.bouchersracing.com/ . I have used them several times having heads re-conditioned. they are an excellent machine shop that knows the 454's inside & out. They only take cash or a check. No charge cards. They can probably give you some leads. Another excellent source is...

Re: Happy Holiday
Very Happy Holidays & great & healthy New Year to all. Quiet isn't the word. More like dead. I think most of the old timers like us have moved on At this stage I don't think many are still doing their own maintenance, so no one is asking any questions.

Re: rebuild or replace
Hi Jose, listen to Doug. I believe your current trannys are 1.88:1 As I mentioned the existing STB engine is counter rotating. If the new blocks have fuel injection then they MAY both be standard rotation with the reversal done by the tranny. If the replacement transmissions are Borg Warner, there s...

Re: rebuild or replace
I'm assuming you are talking about a 454 BB. With what you have stated, I would be looking for another block with heads to replace yours. Diesel would be prohibitively expensive. Just remember that the STB motor is counter rotating.
Good luck

Re: Bringing a 1980 back to life
Many people used to use Luther's welding in Bristol R.I. It USED to be about $10 per gal. capacity. If your tank is recessed under the forward lip of the deck, then your tank like mine may have notches in the tank to clear the exhaust.

Re: Bringing a 1980 back to life
Hi Jose, Welcome. The site got hacked a while back & a lot of good info was lost. There is a square box section at the bottom of the tank. It is about 5 1/2 " high. I think it was 32" x 34". On the 1984 SF we did, his stringers were a little further apart. The top rectangular sect...
