I have a 1986 33' Sportfish that I converted from gas to 370hp Cummings in 2004. We just returned from a 1600 nautical mile trip on the boat and our fuel consumption was 20 gph at 24.5 kts and 2400 rpm. This is a low cruise rpm for the engines. We have a ZF 1.5 gear and 21x22 4 blade props. The boat...

Eric and Mike, My boat does have 22x23, three blade props. Max rpm is 3050. The engines turn up to max rpm with these props. At max rpm boat goes 33 knots. At 2750 rpm the boat does 30 knots. Does this answer your questions? Fran,

Doug, I did the work myself, but in parts etc my cost was about $54,000. Check out the resale difference between gas and diesel and I think you will see that the extra cost is worth it. Diesel is also safer than gas. Of course, the diesel gives better range as well. Frank
