Re: Bow lights

Take a look at the Bertram31 website. They have had several discussions, and solutions, to the same bow lights as the 33.

Re: Happy Easter

Still having cold and windy days up here in Greenwich CT, so the fever hasn’t hit yet. Almost all the boats are still on the “hard” covered in shrink rap. The “diehard” fisherman have some boats in, but that’s about it.

Happy Easter to all!

Re: Happy Holiday

Tony,
Your right about the site being quite! I think it’s because there aren’t many of us left.

I hope you, and any of us that are left, have a wonderful holiday and a fantastic new year!

Re: Breaking the ice

Tony, Yes, it has been quite. I check in several times a week to little activity. However I’m afraid that I’ll be checking in even less, as I just sold my 1988 FBC after owning it for 19 great years. At 76 and 74, my wife and I find it more and more difficult to run and work on the boat. In those 19...

Re: Cabin Bulk head

Tony,
Let me know how the WD40 works.

I just removed my shrink rap (boat was in the water all winter) and the bulkhead still looks good from last year’s cleaning, but plan on trying the WD40 when it could use a good cleaning again.

Re: Cabin Bulk head

I’ve had good luck using a magic eraser. It takes a little rubbing but does the job.

I’ve also want to try WD40. I’ve read that it works great on Formica, which is essentially what the bulkhead material is on my 1988 FBC.

Re: Where is everybody?

I check the site several times a week, and yes, it’s been very quiet! I also check in at the Bertram 31 site witch is very active. Seems they absorbed the defunct Bertram 28 site with theirs and have some very knowledgeable members that are very helpful answering problems about Bertram's regardless ...

Re: Microwave Oven removal from 1986 33’ Bertram

Not sure, but you might want to remove the drawer underneath it to see if it’s fastened from the bottom.

I have a 1988 FBC that has the original microwave, so I’ve never had reason to take it out.

Hope that helps.

Hard to have a Happy New Year with the price of everything going up and investments going down!

I’ll try though and hope you all will also. Happy New Year

Re: Princess oven / stove removal

If you don’t use the stove, you probably don’t need a freezer.

The 35 has plenty of storage, so and extra cabinet (if you’re like me) will only collect junk you won’t use either.

If it were me I’d leave the stove in, unless you want to reinstall it later when you want to sell the boat.

Re: Windlass Install - Deck Reinforced?

Al’s got that right with his suggestion to lube the bolts.

Don’t ask me how many $18.00 plus stainless steel “T” bolt hose clamps I lost by not greasing them first. Also, they’re a bitch to get off when they do gall up.

Re: shaft packing

Use 5/16” packing for 1 3/8” shafts.

Still recommend Gortex GFO packing.

Sorry, didn’t register the 1 3/8” shaft part. Mine are 1 1/2”

Not sure of recommend packing size.

Re: shaft packing

Bertram manual calls for 1/4” packing. I recommend Gortex GFO packing. I just replaced mine after 17 years and it still looked good. I also adjust for minimum to no drip. Although no drip is not recommend, the proof is in 17 years with no visible ware to the shafts and cool to the touch at cruise. H...

Glad you found the problem before it ruined the season, which is too short in the NE.
