Repower

I have a 78 FBC and am thinking of re-powering over the winter. The first step is to install a new gas tank (I still have the fiberglass tank ---- although no problems). I'm looking at going with fuel injected 502s, 425 HP. I'm interested in any experience or advice others may have. Currently I have...

The unit in the V Berth is under the Vee in the center, so, right behind where the small insert rests. The V Berth unit is self contained and runs off of the same pump as the main unit for the salon. The controls in the V Berth are on the Starboard Side on the front wall (with the open locker behind...

That makes sense. I had to purchase a new unit for the V-Berth, and the salon unit was evacuated and new R-22 installed. So, if I connect 2 power cords (one to #1 and the other to #2) and set my panel to shore #1, the air will be operating automatically off of shore #2? Or, should I select shore #2 ...

Thank you very much. I will follow your advise and disconnect the splitter and run off of shore #1. Just out of curiosity; why do you suggest to not use the splitter?

general AC question

I've owned a 1978 33' flybridge for almost 20 years. When I first purchased it, she was in rough shape. Over the years I've fixed her up nice. My AC has never worked, and wasn't a priority for me to get it running. Well, now I have both units working properly. Silly/dumb question: What is the proper...

Imron or Awlgrip

I have a 1978 33 flybridge cruiser. Has anyone had any experience with either Imron or Awlgrip paint? If so, what are your suggestions and roughly what cost am I looking at? Thanks

Justin, You and I have the same set-up. There are 3 batteries in the main engine bilge (27s) and a separate battery for the genny in the aft bilge. I believe (but am not sure) all of the original accessories run off of the starboard side. I have a stereo unit that has a large amplifier, so I have th...

Battery connection

I have twin gas 454's/330 HP. There are 3 batteries. What is the proper connection sequence? I've looked in my manual and can't find a schematic. I believe I have them connected correctly but would feel better if confirmed by the experts on bertram33.com! Thanks

Thanks. Meanwhile I'll keep working on some other stuff. I've had my Bertram since 93. It has been a labor of love, but finally other than a total repower everything has been remodeled. I'm finally at the point that I'm fixing all of the little stuff I've never used (that doesn't work). By the end o...

The head is also on the port. So, the head is on the port side between the V-Berth and the galley. Directly across from the head are the storage closets.

I have a 78. The lower helm is on the starboard side, the fridge is on the port side. Sorry about the name......I guess I should pay closer attention!

Bathroom blower ?????

Doug, You did such a good job on the genny blower, how about the bathroom blower? Where would that be? I took the mirrors our and the back panel to the medicine cabinet. I can see that the wiring runs behind the panel under where the stove used to be (I remodeled a few years ago and switched the sin...

Generator blower

I've looked throughout the rear bilge to locate my generator blower and can't spot it. So, either I'm missing the blower or it's located somewhere else (perhaps behind one of the cockpit panels?). Where should it be? Thanks in advance Steve

Thank you very much for the quick responses.Doug: Love your attitude regarding the price of fuel, and you're right. I will probably stay closer to home and do more low speed running and fewer weekend trips. But, living in Michigan with a short season, I'll make sure I get out, even with the price. J...
