The new 496, with 425 HP, looks appealing. Would putting one of these in and running my other 454 for another year cause any complications? I assume the more HP, the less stress on the engine at cruising speed, or am I totally out there in left field? [:)]

Just got back from 2 weeks of deer hunting and finally got rid of the sea legs and the brine out of my eyes.[:D] Thanks much for all of the info directed to Rissa (da wife). I'll be making a few phone calls here within the next few days and try and get a grip on what exactly is going to be done, tim...

Well the decision is made. We will be crossing the state via Okeechobee, Monday. I am a tad nervous but a few drinks each night should settle me down. [8D]

There is an 81 sportfish in Jacksonville that has no generator and is in need of alot of TLC, going for 25K. We just bought our 77 FBC for 31K, but one engine has 2 hours on it, 600 hrs on the other, a newly rebuilt onan generator, full electronics, new carpeting, etc. Hope this helps you a little.[...

I have noticed braid breaking using the palamar before, but never gave much thought to it being the knot til now. I am wondering if it is actually breakage or simply the line cutting through itself. August issue of Sport Fishing.[:)]

Fishing Knots

After recently reading a report on the breaking points on certain knots, I found that my beloved Palamar is the pits with braided line.[}:)] They break at low 40s up to the low 70s, of the pound test you are using, depending on the line manufacturer. Was also amazed reading that the bimini twist is ...

I'm going to equip the Miss Missy with a Lewmar sportfish 700 free fall windlass. I think Rissa might get a tad upset, hand pulling in all of the rode that'll be necessary.[:D]

Anchoring

I've noticed that there are a few Gulf water people here. We will be doing several Middle Grounds trips annually. Water depth is 21 to 26 fathoms. Will 20 to 30 feet of chain and 300 feet of anchor rope be sufficent for overnight anchoring? I know the old 7 to 10 feet of rode per foot of water, but ...

Greetings, This is Rissa's hubby.[:)] I have mixed emotions about the trip going around the keys and back up vrs straight across the lake. The keys will be a long ride but OMG the fishing.....I'll troll the whole way from West Palm to Islamorada. Surely I'll get a few hookups. [:D] Think my fuel bur...
