This was a problem we also had with our boat. We had to basically rebuild the fiberglass vents. This problem not only suffocates you it also causes your engines to starve for oxygen.

quote:Originally posted by Miss B I just went back and read your cruise from hell story. I would be pretty upset with the broker as well. I saw her at the St. Pete show and she was trying to get me into a 69 Hat that was renovatd for $150K. I asked her about the berty and she said it was a good boat...

Great electronics, great tower, decent hull, I am surprised you had engine trouble with this boat. What did you end up doing for engines? Ms B If I were the suing type of person, you can bet ...

I was very afraid of what you are saying. Seems to me if those engines were so great, more people would use them. Potential resale value is always part of what you decide to do. This is the best time for us to decide about going diesel or staying gas. We still have one engine. We will have the new p...

LOL Well how about that Doug. The shaft size difference was the excuse the prop place gave as to why they kept sending us the wrong props. I guess they were used to working on newer boats. Nice to know it was not just our year boat. Marissa DeWitt "Miss Missy" Ocala, FL 1977 33 FBC

Engine Replacements for 1977 Bertram

It says a lot about a Bertram to still be in love with a boat after you have had so many initial problems. They really are great boats. We are not looking so much for speed; we just want to be able to cruise around 20mph. We found that to be a comfortable speed to travel, during the few moments of o...

LOL Sean. Makes no difference what is disscussed in a thread. This is not an info thread after all. It is about Do's and Don't about buying an old used boat more or less. Capt. Gene, We did have the boat surveyed. We also had 2 mechanics go over the engines. Lesson 1. Do not trust ANYONE! lol We hav...

We have not lost heart. Just don't want to see the boat for a while. There is more to this story but it was so long when I finished I figured I better not even try to get everything in. So this is just the highlights. THE TRIP FROM HELL It was a beautiful day on Oct. 16th, 2007. We started our engin...
