Looking for a project boat?

The past few weeks have not been all that good. My 85 Sportfish took on water due to a leaking rudder port and a faulty float switch. I do not have the time or ambition to bring her back to the way she should be and as a result am selling her at what amounts to a salvage. Damage was confined to unde...

Rick, I don't think any dimensions were changed. I believe extra capacity was gained due to the difference in thickness of the aluminum compared to the fiberglass. The tank was taken to the fabricator in one piece and they used it as their template. As far as the installation, I'm sorry to say I don...

Yes, I went with an aluminum tank made by S.P. Sheet Metal Company, 2907 RT. 37E. Toms River, NJ 08753 732) 929-8666 ( www.sptanks.com ). The tank was installed by Fritz Brothers fiberglass who also did some glass work for me. As a side note, Fritz Brothers did a great job repairing some storm damag...

OTF, I just replaced the fuel tank in my 1985 Sportfish. The cost for the tank was about $3400 and capacity was increased from 315 gal to 345 gal. Labor costs came to about $5200 which included new lines, fittings, etc. The tank is accessible by unscrewing the deck. The tank is glassed in and also b...

Rick(s), I'm still in the water. Microwave is on the countertop, portside. First refridgerator is port, under counter against bulkhead for the head. Second is starboard, under counter, between the dinette and the bulkhead for the vee-berth. If you send me an email I'll send some pics. Tony

Fire supression size?

Going to install a fire supression system in the engine compartment of my 1985 SF. Anyone know how many cu ft the engine compartment is? Also, where would you mount the unit? Between both engines or an extinguisher on each side. Thanks in advance. Tony

Interesting overheating cause...

If you remember, awhile back I was having an overheating problem with my starboard engine (454 Crusader). After checking EVERYTHING, I found it to be my hot water heater. Evidently, when I tested the unit I opened a ball valve that allows coolant into the heater. There was not enough coolant in the ...

I happened to see a pair of rebuilt low hour 3208's for sale for 20k w/ gears and was toying with the idea. I saw the article on Pascoe's site which made my think they would fit. I figured if I deduct the cost of a replacement fuel tank it might make sense. Maybe have to raise the boxes to clear the...
