The boat is still on the market and down considerably to 80K. I have excluded it as an option, but a close friend is hot. We inspected it on the dry dock and found a double ended bow thruster "that needs servicing" - any experience with bow thruster installation and how safe they are for t...

I would be interested to hear from other owners of B33 SF (1982) with CAT3208 (275HP) what type of props they have and also what transmission ratio. My boat's previous owner changed the original three blade to a four blade, "because that is what Michigan told him" ... your thoughts would b...

Doug, no, this was not the official water trial. The owner suggested it, we were actually taken by surprise! But we never say no to any ride on the water! Anyway, I agree with you that we should go full WOT, and I will have a verified DD guy on board ... but it is still early since I will only do th...

Yesterday, boat in water and off for a test drive! It was an entirely different experience from our 33SF ... everything was so much larger and the small waves did nothing ... it was like walking on water. Trully impressive. The engines were wrongly informed by the broker, they are Detroit Diesels 27...

It is not a wide body (1977) but rather a convertible III (1983?) model. I am planning on repowering with at least 450 if not 500. I have two questions: #1. Does anyone know which engines would be ideal for such a repower? #2. Did Bertram construct their boats according to engine placement? In other...

I do not know whether it is the wide body, I do not have the papers yet. As for the engines, I just dont know anything about the GMs and what's more, I dont know how these boats handle in heavy seas when so underpowered ... As for the philosophy of maintenance, Cliff, I fully agree with you; somethi...

Bertram 38 querry

I am looking for an upgrade from our B33 SF. And though it is damn hard to find a good quality Bertram in Greece - so many have had 'expert' hands meddle with their top quality authentic structures - I have found a clean B38. The only problem I have found are her engines: GM 275hp (=underpowered). A...

I am glad that there is a keen spirit and a strong pride in owning our boats! Afterall, a links page is all about offering visitors more information. This site has proven invaluable to so many, and now, hopefully more.

www.bertram.com

Dear all, I happened to be browsing the abovementioned website and found, to my dismay, that 'our' website and forum are not included. Below is the email I sent them, FYI: +++++++++++++++++++++++++ I am a proud owner of a Bertram 33 SF (1982); not being an expert but rather, an avid boater, I have g...

It would be great to see the development of the work done, and to see how the boat fared during the summer months. This topic is of extreme interest to me as I too would like to sand blast, but constantly refer back to the old adage that "if it aint broken, dont try to fix it".

In addition to the cushions, you may be interested in fastening wooden extensions on the side of each engine box which are placed to support slabs than close off the entire width of the boat, which can be filled by the fish box cushion. It makes 50" owners envious of the extra large relaxation ...

Well, firstly let me wish all a Happy New Year from Greece. The boat in mention is now out of the water and we went for a final look over - but also to see whether the price would change. The hull seems in good condition though we did not undertake any professional opinion. What we noticed, however,...
