Re: Breaking the ice

Hi Tony, I actually sold mine as well this past April after 23 blessed years. It was time. Our lifestyle has changed dramatically. The twins are now off to college and my wife wanted new and fast. We are now owners of a 2023 328 Sea Fox Commander with twin 400 Verado's. I'll still check in from time...

Hey Rick.

Glad you're enjoying the Tiara. Sounds like you had a great summer season.

Take care.

Re: Cabin valance lights

If you look closely at the wood valance, there are 4 screws located underneath. This removes a panel that will get you access to the fixtures. My suggestion while you're there is to replace them with an LED strip that you will never need to replace. This will give off much better lighting and reduce...

Re: 35 Bertram RemovecFlybridge

Anything is possible with some good fiberglass work and paint. There certainly isn't anything structural up there that would prevent you from doing it. There will also be a pretty big expense for removing all the wiring and relocating all the engine and misc. controls. I assume you have a height res...

Re: Groco head

And depends on how you plumb it....fresh or salt. I stuck with the salt (and the occasional smell) to save on water consumption and added an inline water filter. Easy job and looks and works great.

Re: Groco head

Mike,

I have my old Groco electric sitting on the floor in my shop. Just needs a new set of piston rings installed. You can have the whole thing, just pay the shipping.

Tony is dead on though, get a new head. The Groco is a monster, but the newer Raritan's are sweet!

Re: Wolverine engine block heaters

Block heaters are excellent for the engines, but not so much for the bilge hoses or any of the other through-hull fittings. I use 2 engine room heaters. One between the engines and one under the main salon hatch. We really don't get hard freezes so probably overkill. I also have a back-up generator ...

Re: Windlass Install - Deck Reinforced?

Tef-Gel, guys. Use it on everything you ever need to disassemble or anywhere aluminum contacts stainless. Great product; prevents corrosion and galling and not nearly as messy as never seize. (I also spray most everything with my all-time favorite, Corrosion X which penetrates the metal)

Re: CARTERPILAR 3208 ET HEAT TANK RARITAN

Hi Dominique, Welcome to the Forum. First, Raritan makes two types of hot water heaters. One is electric only (like you describe "Harbor") and the other is a dual heater that works off the engine's waste hot water (travel) and electric. If your heater has two pipe fittings coming out that ...

Re: shaft or cutlass bearing 1st?

Although there are tools out there for installing your cutlass bearing with the shaft in, it's a heck of a lot easier to do it first with the shaft out. Tap the set screw holes out to make sure they are nice & clean, then clean up the inside of your strut with a half-moon file or drum disc sande...

Re: shaft length????

Afetr thinking about this, the downangle box is shorter, but I also moved my engines back, so the shaft size may be the same? Anyway, this will get you close.

Re: shaft length????

Al, my shaft length is 85 1/4 & like I said, that's with the downangle gear box, so your shaft should be about 2" or so longer. When you go measure, the distance between the prop and the strut should be no more than 1/2 the shaft diameter. Also, have the machine shop fit the prop to the sha...
