Re: 454 exhaust et up on 35 Bertram

Instead of fabricating the "Y's" I used fiberglass "T's" which were available in the correct sizing (4x4x5) and they have been working perfectly for the past 16 years.

Re: Fresh Water Tank Replacement

My brother just "gave away" his 31 Tiara. It was a nice boat. So much lighter than the Bert....it flew with similar power. I'm actually thinking about selling. It's time. Good luck with everything Rick. Hope you don't disappear from the site.

Re: Boat Stands

I'd always err on the side of caution and go with "bigger is better." These boats are heavy even without a full fuel tank.

Re: Boat Stands

Bottom blocks under the keel are somewhere around 2' tall and the stands are about the same size base with the screw-jacks extending another foot or so. 3 stands on each side.

Just a couple of suggestions for you, Matt. Tides Marine makes an awesome replacement for the top rudder bearings. All Delrin and will never need replacement. I mounted them to "Ipe" wood boards which were epoxied in place. The Ipe will also never rot. Lastly, check your hydraulic steering cylinder ...

Re: Hull Splash...Blub, Blub, Blub

Rick,
NC is awesome as far as the new destinations go. The only real thing that we miss is the blue water color....& February is a bit more nippy than Ft. Laud. We don't miss South Florida at all. It was getting crazy down there and this spot in NC is gorgeous. Take care.

Re: Hull Splash...Blub, Blub, Blub

Happy New Year, Rick. Tell them to anchor someplace calmer!!!! "Wave slap" is tough to cure. They could probably lessen the effect by adjusting the anchor point from the bow to slightly aft with a line from the stern to the anchor line. Sometimes just a slight "cock" will make a big difference. The ...

It's less than 1/4" thick, but it definitely adds some cushion. I guess the only real example would be when I dropped a dive tank by accident....it bounced up and didn't hurt anything. Between this & a good pair of shoes, you won't do any better.

Re: PlasDeck or Teak deck alternative

I used PlasDeck after I re-cored the aft cockpit deck. Did the cockpit, swim platform and bridge deck. I'm thinking this was 2013 or 14. Very pleased with it. It's indestructible.....you clean it with lacquer thinner and a power washer. Still looks brand new. Downside, it was 10K installed. I went w...

Re: Installing our new Raritan toilet

Hi Kathy, The waste discharge hose & pump should be 1 1/2". This is pretty standard. Make sure that you use the good "Trident" 102 hose and silicone & double clamp everything. Wait a day before testing for leaks. I have the same set-up and love it as well. Should have gotten rid of the old clunker G...

Re: Question on Cummins Install

Hi Bob, although I have not done this particular installation, I have completed many others. 2 tools are absolutely indispensable: A variable angle spreader bar and a porta-power. The spreader bar has a threaded rod on it that adjusts the load angle as you lower into place and the porta-power with t...

Re: Cockpit flood lights

Tony,
Why don't you just use the existing 110V wires and re-wire them in the breaker panel to 12V. Then this will open up many options for you. Just a thought and pretty easy to do.
