Hi 33 friends, I wanted to report that I was able to get better coverage from BoatUS at half the price I was paying to Markel on my '84 33SF. From $5100 to $2490 is a huge difference. I don't know what changed with BoatUS as I had never gotten a resonable quote from them in previous trys. I was read...

I have 2 sets of the Perko lockset and send them back to Perko every time they break (annual event) and they fix it as it has a "Lifetime warrenty". I have to have done this about 10 times now. It is just so stupid that the little piece that always breaks inside the lock set is of a poorer...

Hey Gene....your trip sounds great and the engines sound like they are great as well. I wish I was able to do 10% of the things to the boat your able to do yourself! Having to find people that one can trust is hard and they all have to make a living too I suppose. If you have any pics of the things ...

The lag for me is very slight. Mine are ZF/Mathers and I noticed it more at first, but not enough to be bothered. I have heard from my installer that the earlier controls were somewhat more delayed. Now if I had a Sea Ray with these controls, I too would move up to a Bertram. [;)].

Well Frank .... Here is another option. When I repowered from gas to Yanmars I, well, went a little overboard by changing to ZF/Mathers single lever electronic. (This is likley to futher an ongoing discussion about "fly-by-wire" pros and cons..) 3 words. I Love them. 1000 hrs = 1 small adj...

Hi John, If you look at the "Events" section, Kiwi Too was at the Captiva Island "Bertram Pride" gathering (which was a wonderful time...) but in some of the pics you can see the side exhaust and how I get a little soot area that I mentioned before. More soot in the high temps an...

John, One item I wish I had done different, concerns the gen exhaust. I ran it out the Stb transom.... I wished I had combined it out the stb main port (like Viking, etc as a tube within a tube) as I have a swim platform that gets too much exhaust.

Hi John, I repowered from gas to Yanmar 6LP UTE 315 hp 3 years ago on my 33SF and also did the 6" side exhausts. We positioned them about 5" forward of the transom and about 3/4 the way above the waterline. I used Tiara's deflector which keeps the water from covering the outlets at slower ...

When I repowered to diesel (Yanmar 315 6LYUTE) in 2003, I also choose a 5OZ Kohler 5kw (Yanmar engine)in the lazzerete and it serves me as well as the old 6.5kw gasser did. I run it with AC almost all the time I'm away from the dock. With 1100 hrs on it it has been enough kw for all my needs and it ...
