I used the Aetna engineering digital tachs. Great product and service. Digital was great to easily sync to within a few rpm.

You have to distinguish between normal operation, in all sea condition, versus abnormal behavior. I cruise all day at 25 knots in all seas. It's a split gas system. Best bet is to just replace the conpresssor in its original loacation. It will be best in the long run. I was originally designed as split stystem for a reason. Likely noise and distance of required cooling water.
