Fiberglass fuel tank problem

I am 24 hours away from putting a deposit on a 33CFB and I am just starting to scratch the surface of the fuel tank issue. What do you guys on the site think about it......is a tank replacement a forgone conclusion?

I have settled on a post 1980 boat....I need the second cabin with the bunks. I would also like diesels, but I'm willing to suffer with gas in a 33 for a season or two. Yes I'm looking for a convertible. My price comfort level is about $100,000.

Thanks for your help and opinions! If anybody has any leads on boats they know personally, or any further advice I would love to hear from you. I think I'm going to skip this boat and keep looking.

Yes it's on Yachtworld...listed in San Diego. I would tend to agree on the walking away......but I have looked at others and most if not all of them are located on the east coast. The shipping is a big number and I wonder if I take this one planning to fix the problem would I be better off? I am stu...

Is the bridge deck a solid layer of fiberglass or is it cored?

Yes the surveyor said it was the flybridge decking. I know the headliner was replaced in the main cabin recently....maybe the bridge decking had a leak and stained the headliner and started the delamination.

Flybridge floor delamination

I am looking at a 1986 Covertible and the surveyor said that the flybridge floor crackled quite a bit when he walked on it. Is this normal or is it an indication of of a delamination problem. If it is a delamination problem, is it a normal thing in these boats and it is easy to fix?

Yeah....I red that article, but there was no specific information on why it was bad or the specific years that were cored. I thought someone here may no more.

38 convertible and cored hulls

I am looking at the 38 Covertible and have heard that Bertram cored these hulls.....and it was a huge mistake. Does anyone know about this and were all the 38's cored?

Is it possible to email Charlie directly? I read somewhere that there can be differences between hull deadrise on older boats and newer/post 1980 boats? Is this true for the 35?

35 Convertible any reason not to buy?

I have been looking at the Bertram's and after doing enough online research to blind 10 men I have come to the conclusion that the 35 Convertible is the boat for me. Most of the 35's for sale already have diesels, the size fits my needs, and the day berth looks like it can be converted to twin bunks...

Hi Guys, I am very new here....just found the site when I was trolling for info for a 33 I am thinking about buying. I have had boats of all sizes and worked in the industry for about 15 years, starting as a shipwright and now selling new yachts from 35' to 140'. Doesn't always mean I know more than...
